The overtake that broke the group chat

26 May 2026

We knew the second it happened that the group chat was going to fall apart, and reader, it did. The move — around the outside, two wheels on the paint, fully committed — split the room straight down the middle, and this week's episode is basically a recorded version of that argument with slightly better microphones.

Tom's in the "send it, that's racing" camp and will not be moved. The stats say the gap was there, the apex was his, and the other guy left the door open wide enough to drive a bus through. Case closed, next question.

The rest of the table is less convinced. There's a difference, the argument goes, between a gap being there and a gap being there. One's an overtake; the other's a hospital pass with a steering wheel attached. We rank the weekend's best and worst moves, hand out the Wooden Spoon to a deeply deserving recipient, and somehow end up relitigating a 2021 incident nobody asked about.

We also get into the fantasy fallout, because that move didn't just cost a position — it cost a lot of you a captain. If you had the armband on the wrong driver this weekend, you have our sympathy and absolutely none of our points.

It's a loud one. Listen on your platform of choice, then go and tell us in the comments exactly how wrong we are. We expect nothing less.
